Áine is from Tara in Co. Meath but is currently living in Galway. Growing up in Meath traditional music was only played by a small number of people. Luckily at an early age Áine met Annemarie and Caitlín at the local Comhaltas session, their friendship lead to many nights of tunes and craic. Over the years they travelled to different fleadhs and festivals together where they met the other band members.
Áine learnt much of her fiddle playing from Caitlíns father Antóin Mc Gabhann and was also influenced by Flute player Catherine Mc Evoy who took Ceili band and Grupa Cheoil in the area. As Catherine was also Annemarie’s teacher, this led to the three girls having similar styles.
Another great influence was Áine’s father, Gerry, who travelled the country with her for years to any session that was going.
Áine has toured and competed down through the years.
